EOSC EDEN in FIDELIS Support for the Adoption of Solutions

26 October 2026

The first round of the FIDELIS Support for the Adoption of Solutions is now underway, and EOSC EDEN is excited to support participants through two offers. From improving repository visibility through the EDEN Registry to building digital preservation capacity with the Core Preservation Processes (CPPs), the offers equip repositories across Europe with practical tools, expert guidance and peer learning opportunities to strengthen their services and drive meaningful improvements.

The first EOSC EDEN support offer, Support Offer #1: Exposing your repository in the EDEN registry for long-term preservation services, focuses on helping participants improve their repository’s metadata quality and interoperability, ensuring repositories are accurately represented in the EDEN Registry.

The EDEN registry (currently under development) aggregates and harmonises metadata from European research data repositories, making them more discoverable and comparable. This support offer helps repository managers and developers assess and improve metadata exposure, ensuring accurate representation in the registry and greater visibility within the EOSC ecosystem.

Participants will learn how the EDEN harvester collects metadata from sources such as JSON-LD, HTML meta tags, Signposting, and FAIRiCat, while also incorporating information from re3data and FAIRsharing. They will be able to compare harvesting results with their own repository, identify gaps, and implement improvements. In addition, participants can evaluate EDEN services for licence normalisation and file format identification, and provide feedback to help shape the registry’s future development and indexing practices.

The support is led by EOSC EDEN experts Wilko Steinhoff (DANS), lead of the EDEN Registry, together with Mattias Levlin (CSC) and Robert Huber and Jens Weiser (University of Bremen), who are all involved in the development of the service.

“For the support offer, a harvester reporting page has been made available to participants, allowing them to assess their repository attributes on the fly, both before and after repository adjustments.”

The second EOSC EDEN support offer, Support Offer #3: Advancing repository capabilities with Core Preservation Processes, helps repositories strengthen their digital preservation capabilities by introducing participants to the Core Preservation Processes (CPPs) defined in EOSC EDEN project, the Transparent Trustworthy Attribute Matrix (TTRAM) defined in FIDELIS project, and the connections between the two frameworks.

Through guided individual course work, participants will gain hands-on experience with Core Preservation Process descriptions, identify preservation gaps in their own digital repositories and employ the CPP descriptions to formulate a plan towards closing this gap. In break-out sessions, participants will have the opportunity to share experiences, discuss implementation strategies, and co-create approaches to overcome common roadblocks.

The support is led by EOSC EDEN experts Micky Lindlar and Maria Benauer (TIB), together with Hervé L'Hours (UK Data Service), and is supported by additional members of the CPP and TTRAM teams.

“Participants in the support offer are looking to extend their repositories to cover first preservation processes, want to improve specific functions or are already preparing for Core Trust Seal certification. They are learning how the CPPs and the TTRAM to CPP mapping can help them meet these needs.”
