FIDELIS Support for the Adoption of Solutions kicks off: meet the participants

The first round of FIDELIS Support for the Adoption of Solutions is now under way, between September and November 2026, a range of selected participants from repositories and organisations across Europe and beyond are working with experts from FIDELIS, EDEN, and related EOSC projects to put concrete solutions into practice within their own repositories.

The support offer combines financial support and expert guidance. Each selected team receives a flat-rate contribution to cover the staff time needed to take part and focus on this opportunity, to get the most from it. Over the weeks, participants will join a series of virtual workshops, work independently on their own repositories with expert support, and exchange experiences with their peers.

The four support offers were curated to match the community needs identified in the FIDELIS landscape, with each aligned with elements of the Transparent Trustworthy Repository Attributes Matrix (TTRAM). Every offer follows its own schedule and the journey will conclude with the publication of an Implementation Story, co-authored with FIDELIS, and a webinar where all participants will have the opportunity to share their experiences.

Here is an overview of the four support offers’ participants:

Support Offer #1: Exposing your repository in the EDEN registry for long-term preservation services

This offer helps repository managers and developers audit to improve and enrich the way their repository's metadata is exposed, ensuring accurate representation in the EDEN registry, a service that aggregates and harmonises metadata from research data repositories across Europe, making them discoverable and comparable. The support is led by experts Wilko Steinhoff (DANS) EDEN registry lead, Mattias Levlin (CSC) and Robert Huber (University of Bremen), both EDEN developers. Kim Ferguson and Maaike Verburg (DANS) facilitate the support. Activities started with the first workshop on 3 September and run until the final wrap-up on 5 November 2026.

Support Offer #2: Tools for privacy-preserving data release and trustworthy publication (EOSC SIESTA)

This offer gives repository managers, researchers and data professionals working with sensitive data a practical introduction to privacy-preserving tools and methods. Participants explore tools developed within EOSC SIESTA for data anonymisation, privacy risk assessment, synthetic data generation and text pseudonymisation. They also learn how to integrate these tools into repository workflows and services, how to balance openness with data protection under the FAIR principles, and how to add FAIR compliance checks to existing workflows. The support offer closes with an interactive session in which participants develop their own use case.
The support is led by experts Judith Sáinz-Pardo Díaz and Álvaro López García (IFCA-CSIC-UC), and Loya Caroldene Haughton and Laura Fernández Robles (University of León). Helena Lozano and Fernando Aguilar Gómez (CSIC) facilitate the support. The workshops started on 7 September and run until the wrap-up session on 19 October 2026.

Support Offer #3: Advancing repository capabilities with Core Preservation Processes

This offer introduces the EOSC EDEN Core Preservation Processes (CPPs), the TTRAM, and a crosswalk between the two frameworks, to help repositories build their capacity for digital preservation. Through guided coursework, repository managers use the CPP descriptions to identify preservation gaps in their own repositories and draw up a plan to address them. Break-out sessions let them share experiences and work through common roadblocks together, while dedicated feedback sessions provide expert input to refine their plans and define next steps. The support is led by experts Micky Lindlar and Maria Benauer (TIB, EOSC EDEN) and Hervé L'Hours (UKDS, co-creator of the TTRAM), together with other members of the CPP and TTRAM teams. Nadine Fischer (ESRF) facilitates the support. The first session took place on 30 September, and the support offer runs until the wrap-up on 9 November 2026.
