Since the beginning of FIDELIS project, the FIDELIS team has been developing the Transparent Trustworthy Repository Attributes Matrix (TTRAM). This matrix is composed of rows representing common repository activities/functions, columns for related transparent information supporting a common understanding of the repository's practices with links and descriptions of relevant information including: Information Artefacts: Internal (e.g. policies, procedures) and external (e.g. guidance, legislation) documents explaining the practices, as well as Repository Characteristics such as Standardised repository details, including those listed in registries. Additional columns are set for repository variables such as levels of Retention, Curation and Preservation (LoRCAP), depositors, users and objects covered by different repository types.
With this comprehensive structure, FIDELIS team hopes to create consensus on the characteristics of preservation, trust, and indeed, what defines a repository.
On 17th of June, the latest version of TTRAM was presented to over 90 participants, who had an opportunity to provide timely feedback on the TTRAM components.

Why TTRAM will be helpful for digital repositories?
- Information is collected in a coherent and reusable way;
- Offers an understanding of various repository types and the curation practices being undertaken by them;
- Creates structured and easily shareable information for further use and consultations;
- Supports creation of a functional network of mutual support and aligned practices among the repositories.
If you are interested in utilising the TTRAMatrix and its template for your repository, explore the TTRAM page.
Have your say! The TTRAMatrix is open to feedback until 15th of August, 2025.
In order to provide the most apt support and guidance for repositories, we need to better understand repositories' activities and functions, as well as the nuanced levels of trustworthiness. The open TTRAM document is open for feedback, so feel free to leave a comment based on the area of interest and expertise. If you have more questions about TTRAM for its team, please write to info@eden-fidelis.eu
