The EOSC Symposium 2026, the flagship annual event of EOSC, will bring together the full EOSC community to explore the latest developments shaping EOSC and the EOSC Federation. Bringing together researchers, policymakers, research and funding organisations, infrastructures, service providers, and data experts from across Europe, the Symposium serves as a key forum for collaboration, knowledge exchange and community building.
Under this year's theme, "Connecting Users, Data, and Services," the Symposium will showcase the unique value EOSC brings to Europe's research and innovation landscape. Across three days of discussions, presentations, and networking opportunities, participants will have the chance to share experiences, discuss future directions, and celebrate progress towards a more open and interconnected research ecosystem.
A new phase for EOSC: the EOSC Federation enters production
This year’s Symposium also comes at a landmark moment for EOSC. On 8 October, the EOSC Federation officially entered production, with 13 pioneering nodes now operating alongside the EOSC EU Node and a further 14 expected to reach production readiness in the coming weeks and months. The milestone will be formally celebrated in Florence, opening a new growth phase for the Federation. For FIDELIS, this is a strong signal: as more nodes, services and data join the Federation, trustworthy repositories will be essential to ensure that research data remain reliable, well described and preserved for the long term. Wednesday, 14 October - Friday, 16 October: EOSC EDEN & FIDELIS Exhibition Booth
During the Symposium, EOSC EDEN and FIDELIS will share a joint booth in the exhibition area. If you're attending, be sure to stop by and discover how both projects are helping advance trustworthy digital preservation, strengthen repository practices and support the development of the broader EOSC ecosystem.
Whether you’re interested in discovering the latest project results, exploring potential collaborations, or simply meeting the teams behind EOSC EDEN and FIDELIS, we look forward to seeing you in Florence.
Thursday, 15 October: Session “Data federation, trustworthiness and sovereignty”
FIDELIS will also contribute to the session “Data federation, trustworthiness and sovereignty” on Thursday 15 October, 09:45–11:00 CEST (Sala Verde), co-chaired by Mari Kleemola (FSD, Tampere University). The session will explore real-world approaches to data federation and discuss the challenges and requirements for integrating trustworthy repositories into the EOSC Federation, a topic at the heart of the FIDELIS Network’s work.
