SIG Legal Challenges – Workshop 4

26 November 2026 12:00–13:30
Online

The Special Interest Group (SIG) on Legal Challenges is a community within the European network of Trustworthy Digital Repositories, where repositories come together to share experiences and explore the legal questions they face in their daily work.

Our first session (December 2025) mapped common legal challenges such as copyright, IPR, GDPR compliance and legal interoperability. The second session (May 2026) examined how organisations handle rights management, documentation and access conditions. In the third session (September 2026), we looked at linking survey data with national register data and the agreements and responsibilities this requires.

In this fourth workshop, we move to health data and the European policy landscape. The European Health Data Space (EHDS) sets up a new framework for the secondary use of health data through HealthData@EU. Putting it into practice depends on research capabilities that let researchers access sensitive health data lawfully and securely, and that make the data interoperable and scientifically useful.

Talk: EOSC is able to support HealthData@EU implementation

EOSC connects and scales the research capabilities required to make lawful access to health sensitive data secure, interoperable and scientifically useful. We will discuss the reflections from the EOSC Health Data Task Force on how EOSC can help the implementation of the European Health Data Space for secondary use (HealthData@EU).
