iPRES is an international community of digital preservation researchers and practitioners. A key element of iPRES conferences is their inclusiveness. Experts from all parts of the world contribute to shaping the conference to ensure that it meets the needs of both seasoned and new digital preservation practitioners, and that the programme embraces new perspectives. Since its inception in 2004, iPRES conferences have been held across four continents. However, this will be the first-ever iPRES in Aotearoa New Zealand, and only the second time it has been hosted in the South Pacific.
The EOSC EDEN project will be represented by Micky Lindlar (Leibniz Information Centre for Science and Technology, TIB) with two contributions, both presented in Session 20 on Thursday, 6 November.
The first presentation focuses on the short paper, Enhancing Digital Preservation Strategies: Navigating the EOSC EDEN Project, introducing the project’s background, motivation, objectives, methods, and expected outcomes.
The second presentation focuses on the research paper Towards understanding identification, selection and appraisal in contemporary digital preservation practice. In this talk, Micky outlines the approach taken in a major new global survey by the EOSC EDEN project, designed to improve understanding of current practices in the field. The presentation will also discuss the frameworks, standards, and guidelines that support digital preservation professionals in tackling these challenges.
