3rd EDEN & FIDELIS Bootcamp

5 October 2026 09:00–16:00
Kia Oval, London (UK)

Tools and Networks for Enhancing Long-term Data Preservation

The EOSC EDEN/FIDELIS Bootcamps align with the support and training mechanisms of both projects to ensure engagement and participation of existing and aspiring trustworthy digital repositories (TDRs), trustworthy digital archives (TDAs) and digital data curation practitioners to promote the adoption of practices related to trustworthiness and FAIR principles, and especially in relation to the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC).

The 3rd EOSC EDEN/FIDELIS Bootcamp is an interactive event with hands-on practical demonstrations of tools, services, methodologies and other resources from the projects that encourage participants to reflect on their own strategies and practices.

As well as these technical elements with tools to enhance data curation, (re)appraisal of data, identifying and assigning core data preservation processes, and enhancing trustworthiness of data repositories, the projects are also establishing a social element through establishment of networks. Two such networks are currently being set up: one for TDRs and another for data curation experts, where both aim to provide a forum to convene, share resources and expertise, and become a unified voice to affect change. Participants will have a chance to learn and become involved in these and how they can be beneficial to their own practices, mission and sustainability.

The target audience for this event are any stakeholders that have a direct interest in long-term data preservation and digital repositories. Although EOSC EDEN and FIDELIS are European and the Bootcamp will be European focused, we look forward to receiving anyone from beyond too.  We also welcome input on what EOSC EDEN and FIDELIS can provide to the community in the next phases of the projects.

The Bootcamp will take place on Monday 5th October 2026 as a full-day event and as part of the Research Data Alliance 27th Plenary Meeting (RDA P27) at the Kia Oval in London. Under the theme ‘Shaping a global open research commons‘, RDA P27 will bring the global RDA community together to explore how we can collectively build a strong, connected, and sustainable open research ecosystem. Read more about RDA P27 here. Please also look back on the 1st and 2nd Bootcamps to find out more!

Please note that this bootcamp is limited to 50 participants due to capacity in the event space. As such, we request that those interested please only complete the registration form if they are confident that they can attend. Thank you.

We look forward to welcoming you in London!
