Held on 1–2 October 2025, the two-day workshop brought together over thirty experts in curation and digital preservation from across Europe to exchange knowledge, share experiences, and lay the groundwork for a European Expert Curation and Digital Preservation Network.

Day 1 focused on establishing the context and identifying possible building blocks for the future Network. Participants explored key outcomes from the EOSC EDEN and FIDELIS projects, including:

  • Core Preservation Processes (CPPs): Thirty essential processes identified by EOSC EDEN that a trustworthy digital archive should consider — either directly or through partners — to fulfil its preservation mission.

  • Transparent Trustworthy Repository Attributes Matrix (TTRAM): A flexible, evolving tool designed to foster mutual understanding, alignment, and support within and beyond the FIDELIS Network.

Day 2 turned to the future—charting the course for the emerging network. Discussions centred around drafting a strategic roadmap and handbook, as well as exploring long-term sustainability plans for this European initiative.

Beyond the rich discussions and working sessions, participants also enjoyed a taste of Leuven’s cultural heritage. The social programme included a KU Leuven heritage walking tour, celebrating the 600th anniversary of the university, and a dinner in the city centre, offering a perfect opportunity for informal networking and exchange.

The workshop concluded with shared enthusiasm and a strong commitment to advancing collaboration in curation and digital preservation across Europe. We extend our sincere appreciation to all the experts who participated in this event for their in-depth discussions and valuable contributions to the initiation of the Network.
